Virtual Early Childhood Music Keeps the Fun Going This Summer
It’s never too late to develop a love for music and dance, but starting early certainly has its benefits. The Early Childhood Music program at The Performing Arts School at bergenPAC provides developmentally appropriate activities for infants, toddlers and preschoolers to enjoy while bonding with their parents or caregivers.
The 45-minute sessions are for children between the ages of 2 months and 5 years old and use a mix of traditional and contemporary songs from around the world to bring out the innate musical nature in the children through chants, fingerplays, and small and large movements using a variety of musical instruments.
The program is designed to boost their social, emotional and artistic development in a fun way.
“I’ve been bringing my son Logan, who is now 2 years old, since he’s been 6 months old to Ms. Wendy’s Early Childhood Music class. He was bound to have music in him coming from his parents. This class has definitely kickstarted his interest in music as he looks forward to it each and every week,” a parent said. “He loves going and enjoys all of the musical activities that are involved, especially the drumming!
These classes can lay the foundation to create lifelong lovers of the arts. bergenPAC brought together musical volunteers, including a Broadway vocalist and side musicians from bands like Bon Jovi and Southside Johnny, to help create a unique music CD that each registered family receives to enjoy outside of class.
Summer sessions are held on Zoom three days a week at multiple times through the end of August. See the full schedule here at bergenpac.org/summer.
