The Performing Arts School at bergenPAC’s Early Childhood Program

The Performing Arts School at bergenPAC’s Early Childhood Program, presented by Benzel-Busch, introduces children 3 months old to 5 years old to music, dance and theater with fun classes that boost their social, emotional and artistic development.

These classes also enable enjoyable bonding experiences between the children and their caregivers while laying the foundation to create lifelong lovers of the arts

“I’ve been bringing my son Logan, who is now 2 years old, since he’s been 6 months old to Ms. Wendy’s Early Childhood Music class. He was bound to have music in him coming from his parents. This class has definitely kickstarted his interest in music as he looks forward to it each and every week,” a parent said. “He loves going and enjoys all of the musical activities that are involved, especially the drumming!”

Sessions run year-round:
Fall: Sept. 16 – Dec. 8, 2019 (Trial Classes Dec. 2-8)
Winter: Jan. 6 – March 15, 2020 (Trial Classes March 9-15)
Spring: March 30 – June 7, 2020 (Trial Classes June 1-7)
Summer: June 22 – Aug. 9, 2020 (Trial Classes August 3-9)

Early Childhood Music (3 months – 4 years old with Parent or Caregiver)
This interactive program uses traditional and contemporary songs and developmentally appropriate instruments to bring out the innate musical nature of young children. Children are introduced to musical activities, different languages, development of fine and gross motor skills and small and large movements that are all intertwined through play. It’s a nurturing environment where children and their caregivers can discover the wonder and joy of music.

Early Childhood Theater (4 – 5 years old)
Creative Drama Tots involve play-filled, movement, music and interactive story telling for children. Creative story telling is an important component of child development. Experiencing theater classes helps support young children's social, emotional, cognitive and creative play skills, as the exercises stimulate children to use words, solve problems and express themselves.

Early Childhood Dance (3 months with caregiver to 5 years old)
A variety of dance classes are offered, including some that require the guidance of a caregiver and other drop-off programs.  Children develop coordination, strength, flexibility, and focus in a fun environment. The classes include: Move with Me (3 months – 4 years old with Parent or Caregiver), Dancing Tots (3 months – 4 years old with Parent or Caregiver), Tappin' Tots (4 – 5 years old), Twinkle Toes for Tots (4 – 5 years old), Jazzy Movers (4 – 5 years old) and Hippity Hoppers (4 – 5 years old).
